Porto Niepoort Vintage 2015 Tawny

What makes 2015 so unique is the purity of the fruit - the result of low humidity during growing and harvesting - which was not affected by the rain that fell in September. The plots harvested before the rain showed a higher degree of acidity and freshness, while those harvested after mid-September showed greater ripeness and concentration.

The wines were transferred shortly after the harvest, having aged in barrels in the Douro during the winter and then transferred to Vila Nova de Gaia in April 2016. The final blend rested again in barrels in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia before being bottled.

Intense ruby ​​color. Good concentration. The aroma is intense and complex, with notes of red fruit, spices and dark chocolate. The nose is very fine and expressive. In the mouth it shows good volume, with firm tannins and good acidity, giving freshness and balance to the whole.

The finish is long and very pleasant. This wine is very enjoyable when drunk young, although it has great potential for cellaring, where it can rest and improve over a long period of time.
